The newest new media festival in Portugal already has date and name: it will be called the Vivarium Festival, and will take place at Maus Habitos, in Oporto, on March 24th and 25th.

Based on the intersections between the human and the technology, the event will think about the place of the body and of the intimacy in a time in which the digital, the technology and the artificial intelligences seem to contaminate the human experience. Workshops, performances, concerts, books and dance form an alignment that provokes unusual encounters between humanist culture and cyber culture, questioning our ways of making and enjoying the arts in a digital world.

He is renown for his focus on sound, whose physicality and depth he exploits to create experiences of instability, awe, shock and entrainment.

In 14 years of practice, Donnarumma has developed a deeply transdisciplinary expertise, drawing equally from live art, music, biological science, computation and cultural studies. He holds a Ph.D. in performing arts, computing and body theory from Goldsmiths, University of London, and is currently a Research Fellow at the Berlin University of the Arts in partnership with the Neurorobotics Research Lab Berlin. His newest performance for human dancers and AI prostheses, Alia: Zǔ tài, was recently awarded the Goethe Institut’s International Coproduction Fund, and will be co-produced in 2018 by CTM Festival (Berlin) and Chronus Art Center (Shanghai) during a year of exchange across Germany and China.

Palma's work often addresses how technology has influenced modern man's life, its relation to the environment and the ideas of human comfort or the idea of power. Parallel to the installations, it uses the design, the video and the performance.

Nerea Castro
Working across a variety media that include photography, video, drawing and sculpture, Nerea Castro employs a subtly minimalistic aesthetic that encourages the viewer to consider their own identity and the diversity of relationships that constitute our experience of the world. The formal articulations of her ideas bear on the affective power of colour, shape and texture as a point of connection to more subjective realities.
Drawn to visual communication from a very young age, Nerea began experimenting in the realm of audiovisual performances in real-time with the collective Hedonistas. Her practise broadens during the time she lived in London, navigating between analog and digital media. In close relationship with contemporary sculpture, her interest is pushed towards the exploration of light in space as a medium of expression.
