The performance of Marcia X. begun in the 1980s. One of her most celebrated performances, Alviceleste, was held in 2003 in the Stables of the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage, in Rio de Janeiro. Known for her series of objects entitled Fábrica Fallus, Márcia X. resumed the performance in a decisive way of her trajectory, leading us to a new phase, more spiritual and less ironic.
Alviceleste is part of a series of works where baths take on great importance – Leite Moça, in Pancake, detergent, in Ex Machina or Coca-Cola, in Lavou a Alma com Coca-Cola. Covering the floor of the Stables with layers of plaster and hanging glass funnels on the wooden beams of the roof, Márcia X. created one of the most beautiful and amazing works. From the funnels a royal blue paint dripped, dyed her white nightgown and her hair, reached to her feet and penetrated the plaster, the ground floor – a new handwriting that goes back to the work of Yves Klein and his Anthropometries and inscribes it in the body of the most relevant artists in the history of Brazilian art.
